“As director of Webcor, Jay was a huge part of our team success as well as my personal success. His skills and knowledge of physiology allowed him to maximize use of our strengths and weaknesses. He put us in situations where we succeeded and built confidence as athletes and people.”
Justin England, Webcor Builders Pro Cyclist, 2004

“The coaching relationship I have with Jay is great. I'm generally skeptical when it comes to coaches because I strongly believe that every person is different and therefore different individuals require different methods of training for success. Many coaches can take input from a rider and from that input generate a general training plan. This method pales in comparison to what Jay can do. When you can combine his hands on "Fitness Assessment" with his vast experience of power studies, you will be receiving the most complete testing and subsequent training plan I have received in my years of professional cycling. To take it the next step further; to train and race with a power meter under Jay's careful guide is the optimal scenario. With a bike mounted power meter Jay can not just monitor your improvements during lab tests, but easily and frequently because he will have hard evidence, the data you send him. Using this method of evaluation Jay was able to specify my training in such a way that within one month I boosted my maximum power output by 25+ watts.
Jay's coaching brought me from a competitive professional level of fitness in July to an unbelievable amount of form right in time for the September San Francisco Grand Prix where I was one of a select group of finishers
I firmly believe in Jay, his coaching abilities and his ability to provide an objective point of view, which I found to be extremely important.
Whether you're looking to improve your fitness, or looking to race professionally, Jay knows how to get you there and what it takes to get there. That kind of knowledge and experience can't be found in a book.”

Jay is my supporter and motivator and I feel that together we are making huge progress towards my becoming a better athlete. The specificity of my plan is awesome and thankfully I’m not being made into a generic pack-fill racer whose uniqueness has been trained away.
Jay puts a great deal of thought, knowledge and focus into creating my program. The workouts are tailored for me and I’m fairly certain nobody else is training the way I am. What’s great about Jay is he can see the uniqueness in a rider and develop a program accordingly. He doesn’t force me to be something I’m not or push me too hard, yet the progress is more than I could have ever expected. Jay knows the requisite physiology needed to compete and the training he prescribes reflects that.
The most reassuring thing about working with Jay is when I show up to the start line I know he has covered every base and I am well prepared to race. I trust Jay, and I believe he is superb at his job and really talented.
Jay’s program, coaching and advice have made possible really significant physiological and performance gains.

"I have known Jay through his affiliation as the Webcor Builders' men's team director, and I have seen him construct Incline Training from the ground up. As a physician I respect his vast knowledge and enthusiasm about the science behind sport physiology and testing, but as an athlete I most admire his superb intuition. The combination of those skills will provide his pupils with the groundwork they need to reach their greatest potential."

“Last year we lost only two stage races during the 2004 season (one we lost to 6x Tour de France Champion, Lance Armstrong). That was Jay’s first year as a team director. Jay showed an amazing aptitude for facilitating team wins and instilling a pervasive feeling of trust throughout the team. You could 100% depend on Jay to get the job done. No questions asked. From a coaching perspective, I found Jay remarkable not merely because of his breadth of knowledge (just take a look at his cv), but his ability to develop effective training programs within the rider’s time constraints. We may be professional but we are the “working stiff team.”
